Social Entrepreneurship

Workshop in Social Entrepreneurship:

We plan to offer several workshops in social entrepreneurship. The first workshop will focus on recognizing opportunities for social entrepreneurship in developing countries such as Iran. Lessons learned from China, India, Bangladesh, Egypt, and Africa are out there! Similar opportunities do exist here. Public and private organizations as well as bold entrepreneurs should sense and seize these over-abundant fleeting opportunities and we are decided to make them alert to some of these very different models.

Who will benefit from this workshop?

This workshop is useful to policy makers, public organizations, private businesses, and individuals with entrepreneurial interest.

Social Entrepreneurship

For a long time, many organizations and people with good will have tried hard to improve our society by spending their money as charity and donation. While they hope to improve the quality of life, their efforts usually end up nowhere because the money always runs out quickly. On the other hand, organizations that create value for society but make enough money to survive can change peoples life. The latter view is about sustained value creation for the society in addition to making profit for entrepreneurs.

Social entrepreneurs have a clear mission to create and sustain social value. They recognize and relentlessly pursue new opportunities to serve that mission. They act boldly in a process of continuous innovation, adaptation, and learning. As a result, not only do they make social value, but also they make profit.

Developing countries have different wealth pyramid, a large portion of population have little purchasing power and many unsatisfied needs. This suggests that serving the poor people is an opportunity to improve their life and make profit simultaneously. Social entrepreneurs have already emerged in many countries, from Egypt and Bangladesh to India and China.
